Retiring The Trinity

Retiring the Trinity

i release these sauconys to the spirits
And hand over the memories and lessons
documented in a Trinity
Sat Tat Aum – Father Son Holy Ghost

The three piled up in the basement after their utility
and then became buried in the life shuffle
of piled knick knacks, scrap books, photo albums, plastic exercise balls

Each one was to be its own honor
own verse
own post
each clarion call
but as i passed them forgotten
when i put on my public facing stored basement shoes to the outside world
and choices
I know I had to release these sauconys quickly from the world
we all knew before

Covid era mind soul meandering
self inflicted experiments past tense
my sentimentality documentation i pass onto

your fire
your star spark between the pupils
so i can put on another pair
forgiven

Strava Name Big Bird
a pair of Endorphin Shifts
big white walls supported slow Ferndale sidewalks
to Pleasant Ridge backside zoo runs
where the shrubs reach high and allude to an English countryside forest
green shadows
dark cicada
lightning bug rekindle reverting
an old man to the limitless boy unknown
Big Bird Yellow and molded by PBS
which we will fight for
by inner spine helix transformations
and the laughter of our children

Strava Name Blue Boy
Named after the 1980s Ohio country department store print repro
of Thomas Gainsborough by that same name
The spare bedroom in my grandparents Greenville farm
the color turquoise that has become the reminder of Margaret, my grandmother
And the way stoicism used to be and still is

like these Saucony Tempus mules,
staples of eggs, breads, and pancakes
provided stability to carry on
And tend the garden of my body
transforming it from muscle and meat

Strava Name Romper Room
The hallowed ground
the 50 year New York City Marathon
where we walked down to the subway after
I hobbled
and took it back to the hotel
and the night before with its ramen
she and i saw Mrs Stomp the matriarch of the Buddha
in this version, my version, of muscle and meat
and the Brooklyn garden I once walked and lived
and coulda been a contender
crossing these romper room carbon fiber endorphins to challenge Cleveland and
Columbus with untrained hydration practices
and the love of the hotel after
and quickly passing the lake of my origin
and the toddler neighborhood of Grandview Heights

this trinity complete

and posted

quickly in this world where intuition is
becoming the new ancient technology
replacing systems we all know not to be true
